Child Development

Every child in our community deserves the best possible start in life.

When children get what they need—mentally, physically, and emotionally—we all win.

Family Services’ Child Development programs are leading the way, in collaboration with other community partners. We work together to provide Forsyth County’s young children and their families with a total development program that enhances each child’s readiness for school—and life.

If your child is preschool age, he or she may qualify for one or more of our 5-Star Child Development programs. Family Services operates the only NAEYC-accredited facility in Forsyth County.

Specifically, we focus on:

  • Education (Head Start and Early Head Start, and Private Pay)
  • Family support (when it’s needed)
  • Health (including exercise and periodic health screenings)
  • Nutrition (including well-balanced meals)
  • Mental health (building self-esteem and addressing key issues)
  • Disability/special needs (helping the child cope and adapt)
  • Parent-family engagement (in all aspects of the child’s life)

Children who complete our program benefit from improved problem-solving and social skills, greater self-confidence, and a lifelong fondness for learning.
