Domestic Violence Services

THINKING OF LEAVING AN ABUSIVE PARTNER?

We’re here to help you find safety, hope, healing, and strength.

If you are experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, or child maltreatment, you are not alone. Every year, Family Services responds to thousands of requests for assistance. We offer counseling, court advocacy, and support services. We also provide temporary shelter to individuals and children.

Interpersonal violence crosses all boundaries of gender, race, ethnicity, culture, profession, income level, religious affiliation, and geographic location. Our Family Services advocacy staff can serve you through the Bridges to Hope Family Justice Center of Forsyth County. A number of agencies offer services through this one location at 725 N Highland Avenue, Winston-Salem on the lower level.

At Bridges to Hope, partners offer safety, hope, healing, and strength.

COLLABORATION TO SUPPORT A SAFE COMMUNITY

To improve the lives of those affected by interpersonal violence, Family Services formed the Domestic Violence Community Council (DVCC) in 1999. The council strengthens collaboration between community agencies, law enforcement, health care providers, judicial and legal representatives, faith community leaders, educators, and other community stakeholders addressing interpersonal violence. The Sexual Assault Response Team was combined with the Domestic Violence Community Council. This group meets monthly to focus on preventing, intervening, and responding to interpersonal violence in our community.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Council, please contact the Family Services community outreach and engagement coordinator at aporter@familyservicesforsyth.org.
