Brianna Abbate

Brianna is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling Associate working within the Counseling Unit at Family Services.  She works primarily with adolescents and adults to address depression, anxiety, gender and sexuality, self-esteem and self-image, trauma, and life transitions.  Brianna uses techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Person Centered Therapy to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals.  Brianna believes in building a collaborative therapeutic relationship.  She strives to cultivate a warm, safe space where clients feel comfortable to open up and experience growth.

 

Brianna obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University and taught high school history for four years before deciding to pursue a career as a therapist.  Brianna earned her Master’s Degree in the Science of Counselor Education from East Carolina University.
