WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — This month is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. According to the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence, last year there were 53 people killed as a result of domestic violence across the state. So far this year, there have already been 44 victims.
On Friday afternoon, Family Services and the Winston-Salem Police Department teamed up to honor victims and survivors of domestic violence with Day of Unity.
