Our volunteers make a big difference!

Volunteer Form Button

Every day, Family Services depends on a team of trained volunteers to assist those who rely on our services in various ways.  Our volunteers come from across our community — college students, retirees, employees of local companies and universities, church groups and the United Way.

Family Services is currently looking for volunteers in the Safe Relationships Division.  Volunteers play an integral role in the safety and well-being of victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. We offer an intensive training program and flexible scheduling to accommodate the needs of our volunteers and to help them feel confident in their support.  There is always support and recognition of the hard work that our volunteers contribute.  In return, you have the opportunity to gain valuable social service experience and provide a significant support to people in your community.  Some of the current volunteer opportunities include:

  • Court and Hospital Advocates
  • 24-hour Crisis Line Volunteers (Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)
  • Volunteering to work at Family Services Community Events
  • Child Care and Informational Greeters at Safe on Seven
  • Providing child care and reading to children at the Women’s Shelter
  • Administrative duties

Our in-depth training prepares volunteers for their role at the agency. Our next training sessions will take place in September 2018 at Family Services.

For more information about volunteer opportunities, call Family Services at 336.722.8173 or fill out an online interest form. For information about our upcoming Safe Relationships training sessions, please ask for Kim Palmer.
