Meet Our Therapists

Lisa Carr

Lisa Carr, LCSW, is a Clinical Social Worker with Family Services working within the Counseling Unit, the Interpersonal Violence Emergency Shelter, and the Children’s Advocacy Center. Lisa works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting issues, difficulties adjusting to divorce or reunification, and other life changes. Before joining Family Services, Lisa worked as a School-Based Therapist for elementary-aged students in Wilkes County. Lisa partners with her clients through a person-centered, strengths-based approach. Using trauma-informed practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and other strategies, she strives to find solutions best-fitted for each client’s success. Lisa particularly enjoys blending the creative process into therapy to further clients’ insight and sense of empowerment.

Lisa obtained a Master’s in Social Work from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an undergraduate degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. She holds accreditation in Primary Care Triple P Parenting and is pursuing specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
