Meet Our Therapists and Family Coaches

Christina Mitchell

Christina Mitchell is a Clinical Social Work Intern in the Counseling Department at Family Services. She is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Before beginning her graduate studies, Christina gained experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) across a variety of settings, including in-home care, day programs, and residential care. Most recently, she served as a Post-Adoption Support Specialist, where she assisted adoptive families in navigating challenges, connecting with resources, and strengthening family bonds. In that role, she also facilitated a parent support group and created a teen support group designed to meet the unique needs of foster and adopted adolescents.

Christina is passionate about serving underserved populations across all ages, including families and couples. She approaches each client with warmth, empathy, and respect, drawing on a strengths-based and person-centered perspective. She integrates interventions based on the individual needs of her clients, with the goal of empowering them to recognize their own resilience and capacity for growth.
