Black Fox Belly Dance will host “Shimmy for the Shelter,” a benefit performance event to support women and children who are threatened by domestic violence, sexual assault and economic crises.
The third annual event will be held on Saturday, June 25, from 7-10 p.m. at The Vintage Theatre, 7 Vintage Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC.
Shimmy for the Shelter is a fund raising event produced by Luci Jennings in cooperation with Family Services, one of the community’s largest non-profits dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in Forsyth County.
The special event will offer a belly dance floor show, a pot-luck dinner, a cake walk with live drumming, and great raffle prizes donated by local businesses and bakeries from around the triad.
General admission at the door is $5.00 and a covered dish or beverage. Doors open to the public at 6:30 pm. All proceeds from “Shimmy for the Shelter” will be donated to Family Services. The total will be matched, dollar for dollar, by a generous local couple as part of an extraordinary opportunity to raise $100,000 for vulnerable people in the community.
The public is invited to join the local belly dance community for this fun filled evening of feasting and merry making in honor of the professionals who help make our community a better place for everyone.
