Family Services considers it a sacred privilege to help families through the adoption journey. During National Adoption Month and on this Thanksgiving Day, one of our families reminds us about the importance of gratitude.
Holly Romero wrote the following in a letter to her newly adopted teenaged son. Her letter was read to him in the court room, when the official adoption was declared.
“I know adoption isn’t all beauty. It’s hard and it’s sad and it all starts with a loss. It’s dealing with heartbreak, anger, fear, and abandonment. It’s a lifelong journey and not a destination, but son, it’s a journey that you will never again have to face alone. It’s a journey we will face together, no matter what may come up.”
Holly’s beautiful letter was shared on the TODAY Show Parenting Team page. We invite you to read the entire letter and celebrate how one family became stronger through adoption.
